Prep 4: Week 8
Date: 19th Jun 2020 @ 1:56pm
Prep 4 Class Blog Week Beginning 8th June
Prep 4 girls thoroughly enjoyed the weekly learning project, ‘Under the Sea’ and responded with a wide variety of outstanding work. In English the girls listened to a range of soundtracks, provoking an emotional response which led to the use of onomatopoeia in their poetry writing. Using a story about a lighthouse keeper’s near catastrophe the girls put their reporting skills to good use to produce catchy news items.
In RE the girls have reflected upon what it means to be a Christian today and focused on the theme of forgiveness. Their task was to give a presentation which resulted in some budding headmistresses delivering a school assembly.
Mrs Welsh is delighted by all the continued effort and resilience shown by the Prep 4 girls who are now looking forward to returning to school next week.
The Prep 4 Stars for this week are: Pearl, Eva and Grace G
Pearl for writing a wonderful poem about the sea, using emotion, similes and onomatopoeia. She used her first-hand experience of swimming with whale sharks and manatees for inspiration. Also, Pearl has been fortunate to actually meet some of the Bajau people in south east Asia and uploaded photographs to prove it. She also sent drone video footage of 64000 endangered turtles laying eggs on a beach by the Great Barrier Reef. I found her knowledge and interest in the topic quite breath-taking and she is now petitioning for the oceans to be rescued from the current pollution crisis.
Eva has enjoyed expressing herself artistically by producing a magnificent textured wave painting.
Alice G has used her excellent journalistic skills to give a detailed account of the incident at the local lighthouse. She also constructed a fine model of a submarine using junk materials. In RE Alice prepared a thoughtful and considered PowerPoint presentation worthy of delivering to the girls in school.
