Prep 4: Week 9
Date: 25th Jun 2020 @ 1:45pm
Prep 4 Class Blog Week Beginning 15th June 2020
Although some of the Prep 4 girls returned to the classroom this week, the home schooling has not diminished, and they are all to be congratulated upon their mature attitude to learning in these exceptional circumstances.
In English, the girls finally finished studying one of Michael Morpurgo’s favourite books entitled, ‘The Butterfly Lion’ , by writing a comprehensive book review. Amelia has showcased her wonderful written work by producing a carefully stitched booklet. Linked to this story, the girls were also asked to write a piece of persuasive writing regarding their views on whether animals should be used in circuses. Jessica produced an excellent example because she is so passionate about animals and their welfare, together with an impressive news report about a near catastrophe at the local lighthouse. Their comprehension task this week was taken from the classic tale, ‘The Water Babies’.
In maths Prep 4 continued with reading the time using both analogue and digital clocks, also learning the number of days in each month and year. Using seconds, minutes and hours they were tasked with estimating, comparing and measuring time. Alice I was able to use her iPad to practise telling the time and looks very happy doing so.
Eme was inspired by the weekly learning project ‘Sport’ to compile a detailed PowerPoint presentation on Nadia Comaneci, the gymnast who scored a perfect 10 at the Montreal Olympics in 1976. I think Miss Robinson will be very impressed by Eme’s IT skills.
Bronwyn wanted to share her first taste of supply and demand when she made some delicious looking cakes and sold them for a profit. She was planning to bake even more for the weekend attracting some Father’s Day gift seekers.
The Prep 4 Stars for this week are: Amelia, Jessica, Alice I, Eme and Bronwyn.
