A Very Warm Welcome to Prep 4!

The children have settled well and responded quickly to the routines and expectations of Prep 4.

We are very proud of them all!

Building on the confidence that the girls have gained in previous years, we are particularly promoting independence skills. In prep 4, they are encouraged to organise their own equipment, solve problems by thinking for themselves and to feel comfortable about making mistakes because, after all, we learn from them!

The girls will experience a broad and balanced curriculum, including daily English and Maths lessons, with appropriate support and challenge. Some of the foundation subjects are taught by specialist teachers with expert curriculum knowledge.

The year ahead brings several trips and visitors to deepen the learning taking place.  We will be experiencing a day in the life of a hunter gatherer from the Stone Age in February and visiting The Grosvenor Museum in May.

We are certain there will be many memories to treasure as well as a lot of hard work!

Thank you to all parents for your continuous support in making your child’s school journey as smooth as it can be.

We are very happy to meet with you should you have anything you wish to discuss.

What a busy term! The days are galloping by as we prepare for the Spring Festival and Lenten Service. Please look out for any notices about these two events.

Reading Groups

Each lunchtime a different group of girls meet to read the same book with the class teacher. Together, we practise skills of reading aloud; finding evidence in the text to back up a fact or opinion; clarifying vocabulary and discussing the structure of the text and it's purpose. It is an opportunity to learn from one another's experience of the subject matter and work collaboratively.

We are also finding the responses in your reading journals very entertaining! It is great that you share your opinions of books with one another and  are exercising your creative and critical thinking skills.

It is encouraging to see so many of you continuing to attempt the tasks on mymaths- Well done!

Many thanks for all the support from home.
