York Residential Visit 2018
This week saw the much awaited residential visit to York for pupils in Prep 6. Girls followed in the footsteps of our foundress, Mary Ward, visiting sites around York which were important in her life.
We visited the Bar Convent, which is the home of the Loreto Congregation, and sang our Mary Ward song to some of the Sisters of Loreto. We celebrated the Mass in the Lady shrine at Osmotherley and listened to the story of Mary Ward in Osbaldwick, as told by Reverend Clements.
Girls also had the opportunity to participate in a stained glass workshop at York Minster, followed by a guided tour of the Minster and a beautiful prayer service in the crypt. Other highlights included dressing up and acting out sagas at Jorvik Viking Centre and a scary ghost walk!
All the pupils had a marvellous time in York and felt a strong connection to our inspirational foundress. All the teachers were so proud of the wonderful girls of Loreto Prep!
