Governor Profiles

Sister Jacinta Davenport IBVM

I am a Loreto sister and a member of the Parish of St Vincent de Paul Altrincham. I have spent most of my religious life in teaching and/or administration. This includes the spiritual formation of adults and of the children in our schools.

My particular interest is in Loreto Preparatory School where I was Head Teacher when the present school was built. In recent years I have served the school as Chair of Governors. This is both a privilege and a responsibility.

As the Chair I am provided with opportunities to support the Head Teacher and staff in creating an atmosphere of teaching and learning in which school policies may be formed and implemented and curriculum may develop in accordance with the needs of our time. The Governing Body welcomes support from many areas, including the diocese of Shrewsbury and the Loreto Trust Board. The Chair is therefore faced with many challenges in order to maintain a school which is rigorous in its educational practices but flexible in its understanding and appreciation of our modern world

Above all my role as Chair of Governors of Loreto Roman Catholic Preparatory School challenges me to ensure that the Gospel values of Jesus Christ and the charism of Mary Ward underline all the actions of our school community.

The rewards are huge: staff, parents, children and governors work together so that Loreto is a safe and happy place in which to learn and grow as confident young people rooted in the love of God.

In my spare time I enjoy playing Bridge and working creatively with woodwork. In this area I have made many and various objects from tiny mice and carved crosses to pencil holders and fairy tooth boxes- all of which have made an appearance at our fundraising activities for our school Charities.

Andrew McHale

A Foundation Governor since 2014. I am a former pupil of the school 1974-1977 (when boys still attended!), and of St Ambrose preparatory, St Ambrose College and Loreto Sixth Form . I am married to Karen and we live in Altrincham with our five Children (aged 8-16). Two of my daughters attended the School. The last having left in July 2017. I am Chairman of the Irish Association Manchester (Chorlton Irish Club) and am involved locally with Altrincham & District Athletics Club and Bowdon Rugby Club on various committees and as a coach. My day job is as a Solicitor at my own firm McHale & Co just around the corner from the school. I am proud to serve our brilliant school as a Governor with particular emphasis on dealing with complaints and facilities.

Fiona Keenaghan

I am a new governor at Loreto Prep having accepted the role in September 2017.

Until recently, I was a prep parent so I know the school very well. My daughter had the happiest of times at Loreto Prep, so much so, she didn't want to leave! This speaks volumes about the culture and community the school nurtures - vital ingredients in helping our girls reach their full potential during their time with us.

Most of my corporate career has been spent at ITV where as a journalist and TV producer, I was responsible for many high profile shows before becoming a controller and joining ITV's senior leadership team.

I am an active member of St Joseph's parish in Sale where I serve as a Eucharistic Minister.

Brenda Gough

My name is Brenda Gough and I have recently been appointed as a member of Loreto Preparatory School’s Governing Body.

I am a retired teacher having taught mainly in Primary Schools for over forty years. My main role as a senior teacher was as a co-ordinator for Religious Education and Children with Special Needs. I also served as a Teacher Governor for several years.

I have two grandchildren, one of whom attends Loreto Prep. I passionately believe children should have the best education possible and I have experienced first-hand the hard work and dedication of the staff as they encourage each child to achieve their potential in a happy, caring environment.

I regularly attend Mass at St. Vincent de Paul, Altrincham and enjoy taking an active role in parish life. Time spent with my children and grandchildren is special to me and to relax I enjoy spending time outdoors usually in my garden or walking.

I am delighted to be a governor and will support the school in whatever capacity I can.
