PE update....

Lesson: Physical education

Class: Sports Year: 2018 - 2019

It's been a fantastic half-term with so much happening over the past few weeks both at lunch times and after school. The weather and the dark nights have hindered us a little, but not enough to stop us continuing to be active!

Running Club and Cross Country

Mrs Gillespie and I wanted to thank all the girls who have been attending Running Club every Monday lunch time. We have had approximately 35 girls every week and some weeks more! We appreciate that there are also music groups and reading groups which coincide with running too, but we really appreciate how many of you turn up with such great enthusiasm. The weather some weeks hasn't been kind, but you have all shown great spirit and determination and we are very proud of you all. Everyone who comes has made great improvement and helped one another to do their best too. We start back again in January girls so enjoy your rest over the holidays!!!

Mrs Gillespie and I would also like to thank those of you who have attended the Cross Country races throughout the past few months. We appreciate that it's not always easy for everyone to commit to this for numerous reasons, but many of you have and you have done so well. The weather and the courses can be challenging, especially early on a Saturday morning! However, the determination many of you have shown is real testimony to your characters and you have all done yourselves so proud. Well done again everybody.

After School and Lunch Time Clubs

The clubs which take place during lunch time or after school have been a great success this term and it's fantastic to see so many girls coming along and trying new things in some cases too. There have been a variety of clubs that have taken place to which some include: football, netball, multi-skills, tennis, yoga, street dance, zumba, chess and art club. All the staff who are involved in running all these clubs would wish to extend their thanks to all the girls for your great efforts, wonderful determination and above all making the sessions really fun. There are some new clubs to try in the New Year (along with some of the old ones!) and we all look forward to seeing you at some of the sessions.

We have had a number of games this term and are really beginning to build a strong team. We have won some matches and lost others, but in every game we have learnt something new to takeaway and build upon for our next match. We have given debuts to a number of girls from Prep 5 to Prep 7 and it's great to see the commerardary between the girls and the fantastic support they give to each other. There will be more games in the New Year and lot's of opportunities for everyone who wants to get involved. We hope to see you there!

Chris Dyson

Chris Dyson, from the Trafford School Sports Partnership,p came into school this term to do some work centred around leadership with our Sports Captains. Chris spoke to the girls about the importance of their roles and how they can help improve the opportunities for sport and sports leadership within our school for all the girls. The girls were given a variety of tasks to complete throughout the year and will take part within the partnership on a host of leadership activities. We look forward to the exciting projects the girls will be involved in and see how they can make a difference to our school. We will keep you updated on their progress.

Trafford School Sports Partnership

The Trafford School Sports Partnership enables us to work with a network of local schools within Trafford in order to provide greater opportunities for all children and our girls here at Loreto.. This term we have been able to attend a hockey festival with Prep 5, access all the cross country and provide staff with numerous opportunities to facilitate a variety of training courses. As we enter into the New Year we have enrolled the girls into a host of leagues and one off competitions as we enter the spring and summer months. We will make sure that you are kept fully up to date. The opportunities the partnership  provides for the girls, staff and school as a whole is wonderful and we are very lucky to be part of such a great community as this and we greatly appreciate all the help and support we receive from Chris and his team.
